Good to know: Digital signature vs. digital sign-off

The digital sign-off is the equivalent of a handwritten signature in the digital world. The digital signature, on the other hand, is a technical process running in the background that ensures the authenticity of the signature.

At Skribble, you can create digital sign-offs with the digital signature process – making them absolutely secure and legally valid.

Find out exactly how the digital signature works in our detailed guide article.

Guaranteed legally valid – all E-signature standards

With a digital sign-off, you can sign contracts as legally valid as with a conventional signature. But: For some documents the E-signature standard is important. We offer all three E-signature standards from a single source – fully integrated on our platform.

With Skribble you can choose between the E-signature standards QES, FES and EES

"Skribble offers the qualified electronic signature (QES), which is legally equivalent to a handwritten signature – this has eliminated our concerns regarding legal certainty."

Sign in accordance with the following regulations:

Our E-signatures comply with the E-signature standards under EU law (eIDAS) and Swiss law (ZertES): either the qualified electronic signature (QES), the advanced electronic signature (FES), or the simple electronic signature (EES).

For this purpose, we work with recognized certification authorities: Swisscom (recognized under Swiss law and EU law) and A-Trust (recognized under EU law).

The qualified electronic signature (QES) from Skribble is, according to national legislation (e.g. BGB in Germany, OR in Switzerland), equivalent to a handwritten signature.

The management of your data at Skribble complies with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (DSG). We host the data in Switzerland according to banking standards.

All clear?

Yes, digital sign-offs are in principle just as legally valid as conventional signatures. However, it’s important to note that there are three different standards for digital signatures. Depending on the type of document, a specific E-signature standard may be required.

This depends on the type of digital sign-off, known as the E-signature standard. With us, you can create sign-offs of all E-signature standards with just a few clicks.

For the digital signature, you need a so-called digital certificate that verifies your identity. At Skribble, you receive the digital certificate automatically via our platform as we cooperate with the relevant certification authorities.

A mathematical-technical process is used to create a digital signature. Based on a digital certificate, encryption is created, which can be used to clearly verify the authenticity of a message.
